Fundamental Movement Skills

Fundamental Movement Skills can be defined as a set of basic, learned motor patterns that do not occur naturally. FMS are so much more then just the building blocks of sport, they are the basis for every movement we do and the key to an active and healthy life.

Physical Literacy is the ability to master all/most of the fundamental movement skills, they need to develop adequate levels in early years. Years of research has identified that the more physically literate we are, the more likely we are to live active lives. It is so important that the Chief Medical Officer has named improvement in physical literacy as a key combatant towards physical inactivity.
