PE

In Autumn 1, pupils in Year 5 look at further developing their gymnastics skills. This half term, pupils begin by exploring a range of matched and mirrored positions on mats with their partner. Building on this, pupils move onto exploring counter balances and counter tension positions on mats and apparatus. When pupils are confident in using these skills, they are expected to create a sequence including a type of travelling.

In Autumn 2, Year 5 were lucky enough to have Blackburn Rover join us during PE to complete the Move and Learn project.  During this project, physical well-being project where they learn about the importance of physical activity and how to eat a balanced diet and lead an active lifestyle and how this benefits mental and physical health. Throughout the project they learn how to recognise habits that can have both positive and negative effects on a healthy lifestyle. They explore how personal choices can support a healthy lifestyle and recognise what can influence them which help them in making informed decisions about their own physical health. Each session begins in the classroom and ends with physical activity led by the Blackburn Rovers specialist coaches.
