This terms our team challenge was to build a robot. Well done to the Blue Bleughs who were the winning team!
We have had a busy week doing lots of exciting art work. We have decorated glass jars to make ornaments for our homes and have learned how to weave with paper.
We had a great lesson exploring our 5 senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling! We had lots of fun tasting foods, smelling bottles and guessing the sounds we could hear.
For our class trip we spent the day outdoors at Brockholes. We learned about and identified plants, and we followed a map before making our own map using natural materials. We had a lovely day!
We had lots of fun making healthy pizzas and salads for the food festival. They were delicious!
As our new topic this half term is The Great Outdoors, we went on a trail in the playground to see how many objects we could find.
For this terms team challenge, we used different materials to make castles for the Royal Family.
During world book day, we enjoyed reading The Gingerbread Man. We acted out the story, wrote our own class book and decorated our own gingerbread men. In the afternoon, we enjoyed reading with our parents.
As part of our design and technology work this half term, we designed and made our own healthy fruit salads. We chose our favourite fruits and chopped them carefully before mixing them together to make a rainbow fruit salad.
In our English work, we are learning about instructions. Today we followed a set of instructions to make a jam sandwich. They were delicious!
On Friday, we had a very busy day solving lots of interesting maths problems. We were trying our best to persevere and work well as a team to solve some tricky problems, but luckily we have some super mathematicians in our class!
We have enjoyed lots of Christmas craft, parties and our Christmas dinner!
As part of our computing topic this half term, we became TV chefs. We enjoyed making fruit kebabs and Mary Berry and Jamie Oliver better watch out!
This week in our maths work we have been learning about fractions. We cut up different foods into halves and quarters to help us understand that each fraction has to be the same size.
In year one, we have been looking at the Great Fire of London and the children have been working hard at home making models of houses for our Pudding Lane display and 3D fire engines. Don't they look fantastic?
In year 1, we had lots of fun making poppies for a wreath on Remembrance Day.
Look at our beautiful Autumn display! The children in year one noticed that the leaves on the trees in the playground were changing colour because it is Autumn so we made our our amazing paintings using reds, oranges and yellows.
Year 1 children have made some fantastic igloos for their homework as part of our hot and cold topic.
